· As Immediate past leader of council, former council sec, former supervisor, others dump PDP
Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in parts of Rivers State seem to be in happy mood. They say a chieftain, Hon Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa, this Sunday received scores of aggrieved Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders from khana Local Government Area into the fold of theAPC.
According to a party leader, Dae Stephen Deegbara, the decampees were led by the immediate past Secretary of Council, Hon Dumka Philip Rojas, former leader of khana Legislative Assembly, Rt Hon Lekia Nwanikpo, former supervisor for special duties, Hon Dumbete Obegu, and immediate past special adviser to khana Council chairman, Chief Hon Dum Ntor-ue, the PDP defectors said their decision to dump the umbrella party was as a result of the suffocating and nepotic PDP administration in the state under the state governor.
The PDP leaders who took turns to announce reasons for decamping, by themselves and on behalf of others, further said the PDP in the state is running a deceitful and anti-people government, such that has shown clearly that it is not interested in the unity, peace and development of Ogoni in particular and Rivers State in general. Some critics however accused the decampees of getting frustrated so early after leaving office in the PDP.
The decampees however noted that they are attracted to joining the APC because of the numerous developmental projects and federal appointments alloted to Rivers State, as influence by the leader of the APC in the state, the Honorable minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi.
The PDP leaders assured that they have come to add electoral value to the APC, hinting on plans that in few days, they will organize a massive ceremony to formally empty the PDP in khana Local Government area and lead hundreds of supporters into the APC.
Receiving the decampes on behalf of the leader of the party in Rivers State, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi, Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa thanked them for their bold and courageous decision, assuring the new APC converts of equal opportunities and full integration into the leadership ranks and programs of the party at all levels.
According to report from Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa’s media handler, Stephen Deegbara, said, on hand to recieve the PDP decampes were APC State Secretary CTC, Hon Baridorn Badom, Chairman CTC of khana APC, Elder Hycinth Nwiyee and former khana Council chairman, Chief Gregory Nwidam.
