A group under the aegis of Save Kogi Movement has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to be wary of traditional rulers visit as they are not speaking the minds of the people of kogi sate.
Commodore Folusho Daniels (Rtd) declared this in a statement made available to journalists in Lokoja in which he asked the traditional rulers to weigh their actions being fathers to all, as they would not be speaking the minds of the people.
Traditional Rulers from Kogi State were suspected to be recruited by Governor Yahaya Bello to present a letter to President Buhari passing a vote of confidence on the performance of the governor to enable him get reelection. The traditional rulers have been asked to have a rethink and not mortgage the interest of the state.
Daniels equally described the proposed visit to Mr President by selected monarchs and their speech as a function of coercion that is not the minds of the people. He said the planned visit of monarchs was forcefully done by the governor to get relevance in the face of massive failure as a governor.
The group also said the state is battling myriads of challenges caused by poor leadership in the last three and half years, adding that traditional rulers were aware of the sufferings of their citizens who have had to live a life of penury.
They therefore urged Mr. President to see the visit of the Kogi selected monarchs as another gimmick geared towards painting a bad situation currently experienced in the state. They described the prepared speech given to the traditional rulers as unfortunate.
The Save Kogi Movement Coordinator also draw the attention of President Buhari to the several speeches and interview granted by Ado Ibrahim, the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, and leader of the delegation that would visit Mr President, to the failure of the governor in the state in the past, and urged Mr. President to juxtapose his past remarks to the content of his imposed speech. He said it will certainly not be a true reflection of state of things in Kogi State.
They equally called on President Buhari to see the visit as another game plan to mislead him on the happenings in Kogi State, and lamented the sacrifice of integrity above the interest of the state by the enlisted traditional rulers.
Commodore Daniels equally cautioned the traditional rulers co-opted to visit Mr. President on the need to be mindful and not mortgaging the state’s interest far and above pecuniary gains, saying Mr. President is known all over the world as representing integrity.
