Conflicting orders mar Rivers APC Congress

The confusion now growing in the Rivers State chapter of the APC may swallow it. The party began by conducting ward congresses without some persons that paid for forms. They also went ahead to do the LGA congresses after a court fracas.

Now, when it was time for the state congress that would pick the governorship candidate, the congress failed to hold. The state said it would state afresh and allow those who bought form to participate in a three-day marathon from Saturday to Monday but another statement circulating said the national body does not want any congress in the first place.

In line with the cancellation of the Ward and Local Government Congresses of 5th and 12th May, 2018 and the rescheduling of same for Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May respectively by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Rivers State Chapter of the party wishes to emphasise, for the avoidance of doubt, that the offices of the State Secretary and State Administrative Secretary which opened Friday, 18th May for issuance of forms to intending contestants in the Ward Congress on presentation of bank tellers will remain open from 7am on Saturday, 19th May for the aforementioned purpose.

And in exercise of its powers of discretion, the national leadership has also waived payment to bank for the Local Government and State Congresses now scheduled for Sunday 20th and Monday 21st May respectively because of the weekend. Intending contestants in the Local Government and State Congresses can now collect their forms after making cash payments to either the office of the State Secretary or the State Administrative Secretary at the State Party Secretariat.

Intending contestants and all party faithful are expected to take maximum advantage of this opportunity.
