Forcados up again as Shell lifts ‘Force Majeure’

By Codratus Godson

Operations and obligations are back at the Forcados as Shell says it has lifted the ‘Force Majeure’ it placed on it since April 6, 2020.

A statement made available to media men Monday, April 13, 2020, said this followed the re-opening of the Trans Forcados Pipeline by the operator, Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited.

Silver News gathered that Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited (HEOSL) had shut down the facility on April 4, 2020. Following this, The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited  (SPDC), operator of the SPDC Joint Venture, had declared a ‘Force Majeure’ on the Forcados Oil Terminal Off-take Programme effective at about 5pm of April 6, 2020.

The lifting of ‘Force Majeure’ would reduce tension that has engulfed the oil industry from all angles.
