The secretary to the government of Imo State, Mark Uchendu, signed on behalf of the government while the chief executive officer, of the Elion Global Resources, Xu Weihu, signed for the company.

During the ceremony in Owerri, over the weekend, the president of the Chinese company, Wang Wenbiao, led his team to meet with the governor, Rochas Okorocha, and other government of functionaries.

Okorocha said that what the state has been looking for is a major company like this Chinese company to come and develop the state’s industrial pack.

“We have the gas and gas is power and we need a credible a company like this to move our gas into power for the greater and mutual benefits of the state and country”.

Earlier, the president of the Chinese company Wenbiao said, his company would partner with the state on power generation and development of the state’s industrial pack and agro-based industries.

Reacting to this development, some economic analysts in the state believed that this present packed signed by the state government and the Chinese company now that the life of the government was almost over could just be a way of ripping off the people of the state of huge sum of money.
