Kogi governor signs N146Bn Budget law

Kogi State is set to run on her financial wheels as the governor just signed off the 2019 budget of N146Bn. During the presentation of the approved budget at Government House Lokoja, on Thursday, to the Governor, the speaker, Matthew Kolawole, presented it on behalf of other legislators.

The budget of consolidation has the sum of N75.1Bn approved to be expended on capital projects initiated by this government and the sum of N71.6Bn covering its recurrent expenses within the stated period.

Governor Bello in his remarks ,  acknowledged that the signing of the money budget was another milestone in the history of the State and another opportunity to bring about the dividends of democracy to the people.

He also commended the Legislative Arm and its Budget Committee who facilitated a speedy passage and approval of the money Budget , saying their sacrifices of resuming from their recess was a sincere and a commendable service to their people.

He equally thanked the Commissioner and staff of the Ministry of Budget and Planning for painstakingly preparing the budget even within the shortest period of time available.

Bello assured the citizens of the state, that the implementation of the budget would be followed to detail, adding that  his administration consolidates on its past successes in delivering good governance to the people of Kogi state.

He also charged the people to go all out and vote peacefully in the forthcoming Presidential election on Saturday.

He said that election was not a do or die affair, as he  urged the citizens to be law abiding before, during and after the electioneering process.

Governor Bello equally charged  the Law Enforcement Agencies to be diligent in the performance of their duty, by ensuring that hoodlums with plans to disrupt the process were dealt with accordingly.

He called on law abiding citizens to report any frivolous or criminal events to respective security agency,  as he assured them of  of a successful outing for the All Progressive Congress at the
polls.
Earlier, in his remarks,  Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly,  Prince Matthew Kolawole expressed that the 2019 budget was targeted towards ensuring that Government consolidated on its past achievements in the last three years.

He hinted that the legislative committee on budget, invited all concerned Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government and presented the outcome to the House for
approval.

However, Kolawole advocated for the effective utilization of funds, by the respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government for the purpose the budget has been approved.

Similarly, he  used the medium to thank the State Governor, whom he said had created an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation between the two arms of government.
