Abutu Yaro, the newly posted Commissioner of Police to Edo State, has warned senior police officers in the command to either be on their duty posts or be dealt with according to laid-down procedures of the police.

Yaro handed down the order while addressing senior police officers, divisional police officer (DPO’s), heads of divisions, sectional heads at the police command headquarters at the Government Reservation Area (GRA) Benin City.

Inside sources hinted that the newly-posted CP may have been referring to the invasion by armed robbers who stormed four banks in Uromi, Esan North East Local government Area of the State, successfully for almost three hours unchallenged and went away with their loots.

The robbers had left behind over five persons dead including a policewoman and others with various degrees of injuries.

The CP who made waves in Imo State at the emergence of unknown gunmen said henceforth, he would embark on patrol throughout the State.

He said: “Appropriate sanctions await any divisional headquarters l visited without seeing the DPO.

He advised all those who cannot withstand the office they occupy to either seek redeployment by themselves or face the consequence.

He stated: “It is no more business as usual. Any DPO who felt he is not capable should either seek redeployment outside the Command before it is late.”

The CP who was visibly angry with the security reports of the Command promised to do something urgently to redeem the image of the Command.

He promised to henceforth match robbers with the superior powers of the police in any attack that will occur under his watch.

According to him, “l will personally be leading any operation in the state to let you know that I am very serious with what l am talking about.”

He thus warned criminals in the state to either relocate out of the state or be of good character and be useful to the society.

Recall that the new CP spent most his years in the with Mobile Police (MOPOL) and has successfully served in the six geo-political zones of the country.

Before his redeployment to Edo State Command, CP Yaro was the CP Provost’s at the force Headquarters Abuja.
