NUJ House stormed in Lokoja by governor’s ADC, thugs

ADC  to Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi state  storm Kogi State  Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat with armed thugs, policemen  in search of the opposition rumoured were in posession of ballot boxes.

The ADC was said to  arrived NUJ located at Lord Luggard road in twelve hilux vehicles with stern looking thugs and policemen saying  they have information that ballot papers and boxes are been thump printed at NUJ.

The ADC and his men after ransacking the NUJ premises left, but with a promise to continue in their search.

As at the time of the siege of the NUJ by the police, all working journalist were on the field for election duty, the fierce looking thugs met only the operators of the bar and those working in the centre.

However, the leadership of the NUJ has  condemned in strong terms the invasion of the centre  of harmless journalists who were answering duty call at the time of the invasion.

Meanwhile, Kogi State election that started on a peaceful note later digressed to violence from all the 21 local government areas

Guns were being shot sporadically from all corners of the state. At Ijumu local government area, the administrator,  Isa Toafiq, came with thugs and stern-looking uniformed men and disrupted the peaceful environment even though the turn out was very, very poor compared to the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Voters thus seemed to say their innocent blood would not be wasted for someone to take to leadership. During the monitoring  at almost all the polling units people were reluctant to come out and cast their votes.

It could be recalled that the governor during his meeting with all the APC members prior to the election day charged all the political appointees to make sure they deliver their areas, saying keep Jesus Christ, and Allah aside and make sure you deliver your constituency.  “This is game of politics.”

Also at Ganaja that is in Ajaokuta local government area, residents witnessed a lot of shooting that prevented voters from coming out to cast their votes.

It was also gathered that what APC members were doing was that all those areas they see as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) strongholds they seemed to scatter everything there and made away with the ballot boxes.
