Ex- President, Chief/Dr Olusegun Obasanjo, heaped praises on President Muhammadu Buharri today, Saturday, February 17, 2018, in a rural part of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. He said, “I thank Buhari for giving more refinery licenses than I gave. He awarded 22 refinery licenses. I gave only 18.”

He however regretted that none of his 18 licenses produced a refinery, accusing the licensees of seeking easy route to crude oil allocation. He said even the Buhari 22 produced only one serious outcome (Azike Petroleum) that has achieved 45 per cent completion. He said he must come back to commission it in 2019.

Bayelsa State governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, also poured encomiums on Buhari for finding a son of the soil, Dr Eruani Azubapu Godbless, CEO of Azikel Group, worthy of two licenses in refinery and in power. He signed certificates of occupancy for both projects that were already in progress on 19.9 hectares of sand-filled land.

The governor said this was the type of gesture and handshake the people of the oil region have been asking for. He demanded for oil blocs to appease the Niger Delta.

In his speech, Eruani, popularly called Azikel, poured huge commendations on Buhari for the award of refinery and power licenses in 2015, and said Azikel Petroleum was set to begin construction of the refinery after two years of preliminary work which has taken it to 45 per cent completion.
