Gov Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State will present his last budget of his first term for 2019 in the next couple of weeks (September). Already, the Delta State executive council has approved the Delta State Economicand Fiscal Update, Fiscal Strategy Paper and Budget Policy Statement 2019-2021.
Following the approval, the state governor can now present the 2019 budget to the Delta State House of Assembly in September, with a view to getting the budget passed by January 2019.
State commissioner for information, Patrick Ukah made the revelation in Asaba, saying the approval was made at the exco meeting of Tuesday, August 28.
Ukah also revealed that Asaba, the capital city of the state would soon get an Army Brigade as the exco approved the purchase of a landed property to fast track its establishment.
He said that the decision to purchase an existing property as opposed to erecting a new structure is to make the establishment of the Brigade quicker.
He stated that with the coming of the army brigade, to be located at Kilometre 2, Anwai/Illah Road, opposite the Government House, security in Asaba and environs will be beefed up to ensure safety of lives and property.
He also said that the construction of access road from NPA Expressway by former Protea Hotel in Warri to the refinery got a nod of the exco.
