INEC still at work
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed the collation of results for the Presidential election in all national collation centers Abuja. INEC chairman, Professor Yakubu Mamoud announced earlier on Tuesday that the collection will resume by 10am. The chairman.. after the collation of results for eleven States including the FCT. The Eleven states collected are Ekiti, Osun, Kwara, Gombe, Koggi, Nassarawa, Ondo, Yobe, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi. INEC Chairman had on Monday commenced the collation process by calling on party agents to inspect the materials for the collation of results and ensure they are in order. The Returning Officers for Niger State was the first to present report of the results of election in that state. The Returning Officers of Jigawa is currently presenting his report from the state.
The collation continues in Abuja despite jubilation in APC and dejection in PDP circles. Final results may not mean much to the citizens but will signal flury of legal fireworks.
Okrika chairman calls for arrest of soldiers
The chairman of Okirika Local Government Area Mr. Philemon, is calling on the Federal Government and the Ministry to persecute soldiers who allegedly interfered with the electoral process in Okirika, on Saturday. Mr. Philemon in a press statement accused the military of assisting the APC in molesting and intimidating voters. He also alleged that a Hilux Truck purportedly conveying men in Millitary uniforms intercepted vehicles conveying election materials to wards 6, 7, 8 and 9 and made a way with the materials. The Okirika chairman alleged that the results of the remaining nine wards were carted away at gun point.
Akuku Toru APC denies violence claims
The All Progressive Congress in Akuko-Toru Local Government Areas has denied claims by the PDP of masterminding violence during the last Presidential and National Assembly Election in Abonnema town. The campaign coordinator for Tonye Cole/Buhari Campaign Organization, Theodore Georgewill, in a statement said alleged that prominent APC members were singled out for attack by the PDP armed thugs who he said unleased violence on the people and security agencies on Saturday. He called for thorough investigation and arrest of the masterminds.
