Rivers State Assembly Assures Support for Elechi Amadi Polytechnics

The Rivers State House of Assembly committee on Education led by Hon Christian Ahiakwo today visited the Elechi Amadi Polytechnics

During the visit the committee inspected laboratories, workshops and other entreprenal capacity building facilities

Chairman of the committee Hon Christian Ahiakwo expressed satisfaction on the level of development recorded in the school

Hon Ahiakwo while fielding questions from journalists said it was part of the house responsibility to oversight some institutions to ascertain their status

So we are here today at the institution to look at the successes they have recorded so far and identify their challenges so that the house can make necessary recommendations’ he said, while assuring the support of the house in terms of legislation

Leader of the legislature, Hon Martin Amaewhule on his part noted that the school needs funding from both the state government and donor agencies

He said the school also was in dire need of infrastructure upgrade so as to measure with the standard of other Polytechnics and lauded the management of the school on their commitment

Earlier provost of the school Sam Kalabor recounted the needs of the school to include hostel accommodation and increased funding pleading that it be captured in the 2020 budget

He said the school has zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism and other social vices and encouraged students to always make use of the complaint box to report erring Lecturers.
