The NUJ Rivers Governorship Debate has unveiled concrete steps to carry out the debate on March 7, 2023.
This was done in a press conference at the NUJ House on Moscow Road on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 by the NUJ Chairman, Jobs Stanley Jobs.
Details:
Welcome to the first Press Conference of the NUJ Rivers Governorship Debate 2023 which is in partnership with NewsAfrica-London and Kebetkache Nigeria, an NGO.
The debate is in response to the mandate of the NUJ Congress for journalists in Rivers State to lead in examining or interrogating those about to take over as governor. It is our constitutional mandate to set agenda and to hold government accountable. In doing so, we have to understand what each candidate has in mind and the stuff they are made of, for a man/woman cannot give what he/she does not have.
We are glad to report that we have got credible and formidable partners such as NewsAfrica-London and Kebetkache Nigeria.
A television station and some radio stations have offered to air the debate live, while many TV and radio stations are ready to give full coverage.
Journalists have been asking questions all their lives, and we are ready to do our job in this direction in the most professional and unbiased way.
The date remains March 3, 2023, and venue is NUJ HOUSE here.
Various committees have been set up. We assure you of a successful outing.
The NUJ chairman deeply commended the Elders and Veterans form of the NUJ for lending their weight and guiding the Union on this great programme.
