The youth leader of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Baridakara Gbarato, has faulted calls by groups and individuals suspected to be funded by the immediate past Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for him to be compensated with the ministerial slot for Rivers State in the soon to be constituted cabinet of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Specifically, the youth leader countered claims by Chief Tony Okocha who he accused of impersonating the APC in Rivers State to hoodwink a section of the media.
He stated: “Nothing can be as deceptive as someone whose particulars is not in the database of our political party as a member or has any proof of attending any party meeting at his ward neither evidence of campaigning anywhere for our candidates but was only appointed into an NGO that campaigned for our President. Is belonging to an NGO affiliated to the APC make one an automatic member of the APC?
“The party has a body of rules and regulations contained in our Constitution and we cannot continue to condone the illegality Tony Okocha is using the name of party to perpetrate.
“The youth wing of the APC in Rivers State seriously frowns at these destructive activities against our party and demand that Okocha calls himself to order henceforth.
“We warn also that youths of the party who have laboured to build the APC structure in the state since 2014 till date shall be forced to take very drastic measures to contain every activity targeted at destroying our party.”
