The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has reassured the first family who have come down with the coronavirus. The party says it is not death sentence.

Details;

“Covid-19, like you have told Deltans, is not in any way a death sentence and your inspirational leadership and proactive management of this pandemic has further strengthened our belief that you and your family will all come out stronger, and healthier in no distant time”.

The above formed part of the statement of the Delta State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as it emphatied with it’s leader and governor of the state, Ifeanyi Okowa, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) alongside his wife, Edith, on Wednesday.

Okowa and his family went on self-isolation, Friday last week after one of their daughters was confirmed to have contracted the novel virus.

But before then, he had continued to warn Deltans on the dangers of self-medication. He told them to seek medical solution from the appropriate government health authorities once they feel unwell, so that timely diagnosis could be made and treatment administered on them.

To Okowa, few Deltans who had lost their lives  as a result of COVID–19 complications would have been alive if they had sought the appropriate medical attention on time.

Therefore, he strongly believes and tells them even as he and family has been on self-isolation, that the virus is not a death sentence and today.

Those words the governor preached and preaches are today being preached back to him, especially from his political party.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Ifeanyi Osuoza, the party expressed its solid support for the governor, his dear wife, and family, at this trying time, urging him to be firm in faith and strong in the conviction that this is a situation that would soon pass away.

The party while bemoaning the unwanted situation that has inconvenienced the governor and his family had been, wished them and other affected citizens a speedy recovery.

The statement commended the sincerity, honesty, and transparency the governor had continually exhibited, especially as it concerned him and his family since the outbreak of the pandemic and said, “We join our prayers with those of your well wishers all over the world that the Good Lord will touch you and your family with His Divine healing at this time.”

“We also strongly call on Deltans to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 preventive measures put in place by the NCDC, the State government, as well as Federal and State Ministries of Health, amid rising positive cases of the pandemic in the State. It is now obvious to one and all that Covid-19 is real.
