* As Egbu and Umuoye markets to wear new look

Lawmakers directly initiate development projects in their constituencies probably out of pity for their people or to show they are worthy representatives or both. This has happened in a part of Etche in Rivers State where a community market has received attention to look like a modern market to boost trade and commerce in the farm zone.

The lawmaker, an engineer, Hon. Nnanna Iroanya Opurum, a member representing Etche Constituency 1 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, has flagged off projects such as an ultra modern market in Egbu and Umuoye.

The lawmaker who is also a leader of Etche Constituency 1 brought what he called dividends of democracy to the people of Egbu and Umuoye by flagging off modern market projects in two communities of Etche.

The lawmaker said the projects were parts of the campaign promises he made to the good people of Constituency 1. He has so far executed numerous projects around the 10 wards of his constituency and has also promised that every ward in his constituency would definitely enjoy the dividends of democracy before the end his tenure.

Hon.Opurum is on record to have urged residents of the communities to cooperate with the contractors as to give them all the support and assistance they would need to complete the projects.

The chiefs, elders, women and youths of those communities were delighted and they expressed great joy. The women thanked the lawmaker as this is the first time they were feeling government presence in these communities.

The people described him as the ‘Mr. Project’ of Etche as he appears to follow the footsteps of the executive governor of Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike .
