Death has snapped up a prominent Nigerian, Retired Brigadier General John Shagaya, a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He died in a lone traffic crash that occurred at about 14.45 hours along Langtang – Pankshin road, on his way to Jos, on Sunday.
Bisi Kazeem, spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), in a statement, on Sunday said the FRSC team from Langtang Unit Command were at the scene of the crash almost immediately after the crash.
Kareem disclosed that later senator was reportedly travelling in a Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with his driver and an orderly from Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Kazeem said “preliminary report indicates that the driver lost control and hit a tree making the General to sustain an head injury that eventually led to his death”.
The two injured aides of the diesead according to him are currently in Pankshin General Hospital while the corpse of the late Shagaya has been deposited at the Air Force Hospital Mortuary in Jos.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi expressed his condolences to the family while appealing to other motorists to always avoid whatever could cause mishap on the highways.
