The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has raised alarm that it uncovered plans to rig the Kogi State forthcoming bye-election. The PDP said the plot was being hatched by the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP ruled for 16 years in Nigeria but was always accused of rigging elections. Now, it seems to shout very loud that elections were about to be rigged, raising eyebrows about how they so easily know when elections were about to be rigged.
In a statement by the party issued and signed by Kabiru Mohammed on behalf of Bashiru Abubakar campaign organization, the PDP says it has it on good authority that the APC working in concert with the Independent National Electoral Commission, has relocated the local government coalition centers to Lokoja and Kogi LGA Secretariat.
“This would be the first time in the history of the state that local government council Secretariat would be used as coalition centres”
The PDP says it has been briefed that the Administrators who are interested parties in the bye election, are to use their offices in the Secretariat to manipulate the results.
The PDP says part of the plan to manipulate the poll is for security agencies who would be working for government, allow staff and government agents access in and out of the Secretariat.
To be able to hatch their evil plans of thwarting the will of the people, the Local government Secretariat the PDP says has been arranged to serve as a rigging field, but warned that insider sources have exposed their plans.
The PDP called on INEC to exonerate itself from the plans, by making the local government headquarters of INEC as coalition centers, stressing that any attempt to test the will of the people would be resisted , pointing out that the PDP is positioned to win the forthcoming bye election, it says the people of the federal constituency having been impoverished by the APC led administration in the state is resolved to vote against the APC.
Therefore, the people of Lokoja and Kogi LGAs has been called upon to be ready to vote and protect their votes, as they were urged to know that a vote for the APC is a vote for hunger, poverty and that they are happy and want to continue to suffer
