Youths in Niger Delta would do well to explore export windows to pursue prosperity in the coming years. This is the revelation from Olusegun Awolowo executive director/chief executive officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) over the weekend where he tasked youths in the South-South region to take advantage of the opportunities that abound in export business.
Awolowo said this in Calabar at Marian Hotel while declaring open a one day Export competency Building programme for youths and intending exporters organized by (NEPC).
According to him, “You can go into export of services aside goods and product, stressing that export trade is dynamic and requires constant update at International level”
The CEO who was represented by Peter Njoku assistant director export development Incentives said “I am aware the resourcefulness of youths in the region especially in the area of agriculture, tourism, creativity and handicrafts.
“I am aware of the resourcefulness of youths in the region especially in the area of agriculture, tourism, creativity and handicrafts. He lamented that these efforts have not resulted into formal Export”.
He said the high record of companies engaging in informal export in the region mainly in boarder communities and coastal areas, need a change in this narrative
He urged the youth to channel more efforts into more lucrative formal Export business.
He revealed that the major reason for the programme is against the backdrop of the importance attached to export skills acquisition by youths .
