By Wisdom Chukwu-Ohaegbule

The newly crowned UN Mayor of Peace, Mr MY-ACE China, who is known as Mayor of Housing, has called for more efforts to build peace in the communities and states so as to boost productivity.

The Port Harcourt-based real estate strategist and housing estate guru said this after he was crowned the Mayor of Peace by a United Nations-recognised organization known as UN-POLAC Foundation, which works to actualize the UN Mandate on Peace around the world.

The Mayor of Housing was crowned Mayor of Peace in Lagos last Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja along with few other worthy ambassadors of peace.

Giving reason for the award, the Registrar/Director of Programmes, UN-POLAC, Amb Pat Agu, said UN-POLAC had noted with huge admiration the activities of the Mayor of Housing in the housing sector. She said Mr China’s activities have created an environment of peace and promoted affordable housing, encouraged job and wealth creation, and led to measurable poverty reduction.”

The Registrar said UN-POLAC Foundation is an international autonomous institution and a peace advocacy organization that came to the fore following the UN General Assembly’s resolution declaring 2001-2010 as a decade of peace and non-violence.

Speaking after receiving the award, the new Mayor of Peace said he has always acted as the Mayor of Housing and that he would keep acting so.

On his message to the Niger Delta people, he urged the state governments to pursue productivity, saying he has never seen anyone pursing productivity that also goes about stirring trouble where he works because, according to him, everybody wants to earn daily bread.

The Mayor of Peace said to promote peace, promote productivity, adding that the youths form the highest population segment of Nigeria. If they are productive, they will pay less attention to trouble. Let the Government promote job creation to reduce conflict.

He gave his peace formula which he called the 5Ps of Peace, thus: ‘Productivity Plus Profit Produces Peace.’

He commended the new administration in Rivers State for embarking on policies and programmes such as social housing and SME registration for funding, saying these would boost job creation for the youths and promote productivity and profit that would end up boosting peace in the state.
