RivCSO faults nature of Rivers judicial panel on SARS havocs and police brutality

  • Group says real protesters not included

Brains behind the EndSARS protests in Rivers State have remained agitated over the composition of the panel that came as a fallout of the protests to probe injuries by SARS and police brutality.


Organizers of  Port Harcourt EndSar protest in Rivers State have faulted the composition of the members of the panel of Inquiry into the act of brutality and Violation of human Rights by Men of Nigeria Police especially the operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad by the State Government.

To this end, the EndSar protesters called for expansion of members of the panel to accommodate those mentioned by the federal government which includes representative of Civil Society group, Students, National Human Rights Commission, those who do not enjoy Relationship from the state government and others.

Presenting the position of the Port Harcourt EndSar Protesters, Enefaa Georgewill said what they in Rivers State as members of the panel are contrary to the specifications by Federal Government and different from what is happening in other states.

GEORGEWILL who is the Chairman of Civil Society Organizations in the state on behalf of the Port Harcourt EndSar Protesters also called for extension of date for the filing in of petitions by the complainants to enable all concern to be participate in the process.

They also accused Federal Government of not being sincere with in handling the process, saying that it was wrong to freeze the Bank Account of genuine participant of the EndSar without considering those who were cut on camera with marchet and other dangerous weapons attacking the protesters.

On his part, TANNY HALIDAY who represented the Artist and Bloggers in Port Harcourt while supporting the position of the CSO Chairman, also called on the panel to open channels of communication which he said will allow transparency in the process.
