The people of Rivers State would find what is in stock for them in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in January 2024.
The state’s representative on the Board, Chief Tony Okocha, told newsmen at the end-of-year interactive session with newsmen on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, that he has his own way of doing things.
The experienced administrator who was personal aide to Nyesom Wike as Obio/Akpor LGA chairman and chief of staff to Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as governor, said he would unveil the NDDC blueprint for Rivers State at a proper forum so it would be clear what to expect and what not to expect.
He gave hint and said he would embark on an aggressive, people-oriented project with special priority given to the health and welfare of the people.
He said, “Imagine the situation where most people lose their lives because they are unable to afford N2,000 medication to treat malaria! That is how bad it is. That is why we shall make the health and welfare of our people a top priority.”
Chief Okocha stressed that the NDDC Rivers State, under his leadership, will run an administration that is completely different from previous administrations and will ensure that, by the end of his term, the history of the State Office will be rewritten in a positive light.
He also threw light on the Rivers crisis and said both Wike and Gov Sim Fubara were his close friends. Sueing for nothing but peace, Chief Okocha said what was needed as political solution because the problem was political.
He spoke in confidence and mentioned some things some persons in the dispute could do differently, but urged conflict merchants to allow the governor follow his mind
