As part of preparatory activities towards the 2021 census, the National Population Commission (NPC) is conducting Enumerating Area exercise phase 11 in selected local government Areas of the country including Odukpani and Akamkpa  local government Areas of Cross River State.

The Commissioner in charge of Cross River State Charles Ogwa disclosed this recently at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Center Calabar, ahead of the planned Enumerating Area Demarcating exercise across the country.

He said that the Commission is leaving no stone unturned in order to ensure that the EAD for next year census is conducted meticulously, professionally, and scientifically

“For us in the Commission getting EAD right is just an option, but an absolute necessity in the quest to deliver to the nation and accurate, reliable and acceptable census”.

He disclosed further that from 2006 a lot of changes and developments have taken place and certainly will affect the existing national frame. Existing maps can no longer meet the socio economic and analytical need of the country, he added.

He revealed that the NPC is embarking on fresh EAD to update the National one and revisit the methodology used in 2006
