The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, says the Kwara government needs to support families affected by the flooding at Bode Saadu in the state’s Moro Local Government Area (LGA).
Sulu-Gambari, in a statement on Friday in Ilorin by his Press Secretary, Abdulazeez Arowona, described the situation as quite unfortunate.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that a heavy downpour on Wednesday evening caused a lot of damage in the area, submerging some houses.
The Emir sympathised with the victims over the loss of property and dislodgement from their respective homes.
“I received news of the incidence with worries and discomfort. My heart and prayers are with you at this crucial period,” he said.
Sulu-Gambari, who is also the Chairman of Kwara Traditional Rulers Council, thanked the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his prompt response and visit to the scene of the disaster.
He, however, appealed for adequate support for the affected families, saying that many of them lost their homes and property.
Sulu-Gambari, therefore, urged religion leaders in the Ilorin Emirate and beyond to be more prayerful to God for maximum protection against calamities and disasters in Kwara and Nigeria at large. (NAN)
