Rivers State Governor His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara has affirmed his commitment and determination in building a prosperous state, where development is equitably spread across the 23 LGAs to fast track the overall development of the state.
The governor gave the assurance during the Simplified Movement Thanksgiving service at School Field Eberi, organised in his honour by Omuma people on Sunday to celebrate his supreme court victory and his triumph at the 2023 governorship polls.
The governor who was represented at the event by a Federal lawmaker, Hon Awaji-Inombek Dagomie Abiante expressed his preparedness to change the fortunes of Omuma people and indeed all Rivers people as fruitful foundations are being laid, “We have heard you speak about poverty, we want to assure you that in overcoming poverty, you need to be strategic, you need to be deliberate.
“Foundations have to be laid, and it is that foundation the government is laying begining from December 2023.
“The foundations of a just wage, the foundations of justice for he, who has served. That is why we have entrenched the fact that as long as you qualify to be promoted, that you have to be promoted.”
He highlighted that the administration rests on justice, fairness and equity for all, and as such there is no discrimination in the promotion of workers across board, both in the state and local government civil service system.
“It is the entrenchment of justice that has also led to the declaration of the commencement of payment of N30,000 as minimum wage to workers in our LGA service system. That is the foundation that has been laid to overcome poverty.” The N30,000 minimum wage has been in place since 2019, but the previous administration paid deaf ears to it. But Gov Fubara being a true administrator with human feelings has ordered its implementation to the local government level.
He maintained that the current administration shall remain accountable and shall answer to the yearnings of the people with a constant energy in delivering the dividends of democracy.
In a show of sincerity and commitment to the laying of the foundations that will guarantee equitable growth for all, the governor announced the speedy completion of Umuakali-Eberi road., “In the coming weeks, we have been assured, that every obstacle, everything that has been slowing down the completion of that major road from Umuakali to Eberi will be taken off, and that project well be completed in record time.
The government will also embark on other critical road projects and infrastructure of meaningful impact in Omuma LGA, the governor assured.
At the event well attended by dignitaries across party lines, hundreds of defectors returned to the PDP family and were received by the Vice Chairman of PDP, Rivers West Senatorial District Hon Robinson Ewoh.
Leader of the Simplified Movement in Rivers State, Rt Hon Evans Bapakaye Bipi expressed satisfaction with the governors performance, hence the organic state-wide support he’s receiving with the Simplified Movement train.
The mammoth turnout at the event is an express rejection to the old order, as the people openly rejected buses sent by anti-democratic forces whose aim was to convey them out of the LGA in order not to attend the Simplified thanksgiving service in Omuma.
