The Port Harcourt Municipal City Council Labour Party chairmanship candidate for the forth coming local government election in the state has pledged to make human capital development his topmost priority if elected as the next Mayor of Port Harcourt.
Prince Chioma Chimwo, who emerged as the Labour Party candidate for the position of the Mayor of Port Harcourt, pledged to make human capital development and wealth creation as his areas of concentration, if given the chance by his people.
Speaking shortly after he was declared as the Labour Party candidate for the Port Harcourt city council by his party, Prince Chioma said he would anchor his administration on human capital development, wealth creation and in empowering the people of Port Harcourt city council at large.
According to Prince Chioma, who was once a councilor in the Port Harcourt city council, said he would choose to anchor his concentration on human capital development because his people were currently suffering, hungry, and neglected and would do all within his power to make them stand on their feet and put food on their tables, if elected.
He said: “Honestly, that would be my dream projects and if by the grace of God and my people, I am given this chance, it would be my greatest pleasure to help my people stand in their feet once again.” Like most political aspirants, he too did not lay open the strategic steps he would take to deliver his agenda.
On the chances of a free and fair elections in the state by the Rivers State government and the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission ( RSIEC), Hon. Chioma said he believes that the RSIEC would do the right thing because of the pedigree and integrity of the chairman of the electoral empire who he said happens to be a retired judge in the state.
“I am saying this because the RSIEC chairman, for who he is, cannot allow himself to be used by anybody. He will surely stand and do the right thing by conducting a free and fair election in the state “.
According to the Labour Party candidate, the governor would, Sir Sim Fubara, equally does what is right. We trust him to love the people of Rivers State like he had emphasized.
He said the forthcoming LGA elections in the state was going to be a litmus test for the governor. “If he loves the people of Rivers State like he kept saying, he should conduct a free and fair elections by allowing anybody who wins to be declared. Let there be no manipulations or the imposition of candidates because he knows the implications.
“Let us shift from what we are all condemning and allow a new Rivers State to emerge and emerge strongly for a better one”, he pleaded.
On the rumoured lingering crisis in the Labour Party, especially in the state, Prince Chimwo dismissed it as untrue and explained that the party was still one as a family.
“In party politics, there will always be people agreeing and disagreeing and you can see it in all political parties in the country.
“There is no storm in our party. We have one family,” he added.
