The Inspector General of Police has commended foreign sponsors, stakeholders, and citizens for their invaluable contributions to the successful installation of the Rivers State Police Command Complaint Response Unit (CRU) office.
In a ceremony attended by traditional rulers, NGOs, police officers wives, students, government representatives, market men and women, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, the IG said such collaborations would boost police efforts in Nigeria.
Representing the Inspector General, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Adebola Hamzat, Zone 16, Bayelsa, acknowledged the pivotal roles played by foreign organizations, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the American Embassy, and other stakeholders in ensuring the effective partnership with the Nigerian Police.
In his comments, the new police boss in Rivers State, Bala Mustafa, reiterated the police force’s unwavering commitment to serving the nation with fairness, justice, and integrity.
Speaking, the UNODC Country Representative noted that the CRU office launch represents a crucial step forward in collective efforts to enhance prosperity, accountability, and internship within the Nigerian police force. “This initiative aligns with the UNODC’s strategic vision for Nigeria 2030, focusing on strengthening the criminal justice system, ensuring access to justice, protecting victims, and combating corruption and illicit financial frauds.”
The CRU machine, an online communication technology, was highlighted for its ability to provide quality communication, excellent data, and feedback to complainants while ensuring maximum protection and action against perpetrators.
CP Bala Mustafa solicited good collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force to create an enabling environment for safety of lives and business activities.
The launch of the CRU office marks a significant milestone in the Rivers Stat ine Police Command’s quest for justice, accountability, and service to the nation.
In a related development, a suspect from Bodo confessed to armed robbery, revealing that a friend masterminded the plan to steal phones for resale to fund a business venture. The suspect was caught during their first attempt in the Mogo and Kpor communities, where the victims were female.
