NIPR appoints Jossy Nkwocha as chairman, Energy Hub Management Committee

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has appointed Group Head, Corporate Communications, Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals and Fertilizer Group, Port Harcourt, Dr Jossy Nkwocha, as chairman of the Institute’s Energy Hub Management Committee.

Chairman of the National Council of NIPR and President of the Institute Dr Ike Neliaku said Dr Nkwocha, a distinguished Fellow of the Institute, will lead a four-man committee carefully chosen to achieve the objectives of setting up the Energy Hub which is domiciled in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Other members of the Committee are Rev. Francis Asuk of Shell Petroleum as Secretary, as well as Rev. Sola Adebawo, ex-Chevron, and Lola Oyenekan, both of whom are veterans in the upstream Energy sector.

NIPR President Dr Ike Neliaku who inaugurated the Committee via Zoom on 29th August 2024 also inaugurated five other hubs and their management committees.

They include the Finance Hub to be chaired by Rasheed Bolarinwa, President of the Association of Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB); Mrs Thelma Okoh, National Council member, to chair the Maritime Hub; and Mr Basil Agboarumi, managing director SAHCOL, to head the Aviation Hub, all to be domiciled in Lagos.

The NIPR appointments also included Dr Ahmad Sajoh for the Anti-Corruption and Consumer Protection Hub and Miss Chimdi Neliaku to lead the NIPR Young Practitioners’ Hub, both of which are domiciled in Abuja.

While inaugurating the Management Committees, Dr Neliaku said the essence of creating the hubs were to deepen the practice of Public Relations in those sectors and build sustainable relationships with critical stakeholders in such sectors for the mutual benefit of the Institute and the sectors.

The letter appointing the chairmen and members of each management committee and their terms of reference, dated 26th August 2024, was signed by Chief Uzoma Onyegbadue, the NIPR Registrar and Secretary of the Governing Council of the Institute.

The Energy Hub headed by Dr Nkwocha is the only hub domiciled in Port Harcourt, a tribute to the capacity and recognition Dr Nkwocha commands in the media and PR industry.
