Why we are proud of Navy Secondary School Port Harcourt – Commandant

Written by silvernewsng

The Commandant of the Navy Secondary School Port Harcourt located in Borokiri, Commander Chinonso Edna Omezurike, tells IGNATIUS CHUKWU that the school wins academic and other awards every often.
Q:
You seem very proud of this school, what makes it different from other Navy schools?
Ans:
All Navy schools are good, and we are all doing well. Port Harcourt (Borokiri) is one of them, the third to be established some 30 years ago. We are equally doing very well, just like the others.

For instance, in this state (Rivers) we contested with 500 other schools in Science Competition and we took first. It ran for three months and we took overall first.
We also competed in the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Competition and took third. The school has always been topnotch.

We are proud of this school because even in the universities, they excel. Mercy Johnson was in this school and she excelled in her chosen career. That is the hallmark of this school, always excelling in every area. (It was also announced at the event that an ex-student just made first class at the flying school in Ghana).
We will mark the 30th anniversary of this school and most of the alumni will be here to rejoice with the school.

This school has always made Navy proud and the Navy authorities have been very supportive. That is why we here are always grateful to the Chief of Naval Staff on how he has made the environment possible for this school to operate and blossom.
Q:
What do you have to say to the outgoing students?
Ans:
You are the torchbearers of our legacy, and the hope and aspirations of the entire school. The world is evolving fast, and it is through thirst for knowledge and a willingness to adapt that you will stay ahead.
